1 - Well, let's see... Since highschool i was always good in writing, specially fitcion, so i started to search books and works about that subject (fiction) that i liked so much. It's very hard to find good famous books that are written about some certain subject whithout being mainstream, so i needed to find another way to read a book that's equally good written and with a good quality content on the material about what it was written. It was then, that i found about the "fanfiction". Fanfiction have a real good research material and some of them are really good written, obviously because most of the fanfiction authors are real fans. Of course, like in any other field, there are plenty bad written fanfiction around, deplorable knowlodge about the author or the subject, and awful usage of the books/triology/etc content material, but if you dig really deep, you'll always find something good. And if you don't, you can always write one, use your creative side, that's the beauty of the fanfiction.

2 - It is probably a selfish way to try avoid others to re-write the scenes as they pleased, disguised of the excuse to protect your investiment, or your work. It is somekind of protection, but it's an author-ego's protection more than the book/work itself. As a fan, i think the author will be right to want to protect his work, it's his work after all. As an author myself, i think everyone should have the right to express an opinion, whether is a good or a bad critic, even understanding an author's point of view. It will never please everyone, we just have to understand the two sides of this coin.

3 - Yes! Of course. The thing is... when you finish reading a book, or a piece, or a scene, you really like, you never want it to end, right? Or when a character that you love died, and you want him to live a bit longer... So when i read books i really loved, or scenes i really wanted to continuate, i imagined the on going for them, because i didn't want it to end. I think, that's the whole point that move the ficwriters, right? As for me, i think that the real reason is to imaginate a "less sad end" to that book you almost teared out of crying, or to "revive" that character that you love and died on the second chapter. It can be viewed as a bit of without consideration in the ficwriters part, specially if the author spend months/years doing his work, and the ficwriter just read the final result of it. But of ot wasn't for the authors incentive work on doing the book, the ficwriter, reader and fan, maybe wouldn't allowed himself to imagine. After all, that's the point of a book, right?
